About this role
Electrical and electronics technicians install, test, maintain and repair electrical and electronic systems and equipment. They work from technical drawings, use diagnostic instruments and support engineers in developing and manufacturing electronic products and systems.
Key responsibilities
- Installing, testing and maintaining electrical and electronic equipment
- Using diagnostic instruments to fault-find and troubleshoot
- Reading and interpreting circuit diagrams and technical specifications
- Assembling and wiring electronic circuits and systems
- Documenting test results and maintenance records
Qualifications and entry routes
Typically requires an HNC/HND, BTEC Level 3 or apprenticeship in electrical/electronic engineering. IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) EngTech registration is the professional standard.
