About this role
Pipe fitters cut, thread, bend and install pipework systems for industrial, commercial and domestic applications. They work with steel, copper, plastic and specialist alloy pipes, ensuring systems are leak-free and meet pressure and safety requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Cutting, threading, bending and assembling pipework
- Installing pipework systems to engineering specifications
- Pressure testing and commissioning pipe systems
- Reading isometric drawings and pipe fabrication details
- Ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations
Qualifications and entry routes
Typically requires an apprenticeship or NVQ Level 2/3 in pipefitting. CCNSG or CSCS card may be required for site work. Additional welding and specialist qualifications add value.
