Key responsibilities
- Preparing surfaces including sanding, filling and priming
- Using spectrophotometers and mixing systems for colour matching
- Applying multi-coat paint systems in controlled spray booths
- Curing and polishing finished paintwork
- Maintaining spray equipment and managing paint waste
Qualifications and entry routes
Level 3 qualification in vehicle refinishing. IMI accreditation. Manufacturer-specific paint system training. RPE (respiratory protective equipment) face-fit testing and isocyanate awareness training.
