About this role
Roofers, roof tilers and slaters install, repair and maintain roofing systems using tiles, slates, felt, lead, single-ply membranes and other roofing materials. They work at height on residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
Key responsibilities
- Installing roofing materials including tiles, slates and flat roofing
- Stripping and preparing roof structures for re-roofing
- Installing flashings, valleys, ridges and ventilation

- Working safely at height using scaffolding and harnesses
Qualifications and entry routes
NVQ Level 2/3 in Roofing via apprenticeship. CSCS card required. NFRC (National Federation of Roofing Contractors) training programmes. Lead sheet qualifications (Lead Sheet Association) for lead work.
