About this role
Counsellors (2020 SOC) provide person-centred, psychodynamic, CBT or integrative therapeutic support to clients experiencing mental health difficulties, life transitions, relationship problems, bereavement, trauma and other emotional challenges.
Key responsibilities
- Providing therapeutic counselling sessions
- Conducting risk assessments and therapeutic formulations
- Maintaining clinical records in line with professional standards
- Attending regular clinical supervision
- Making referrals to other services when appropriate
Qualifications and entry routes
BACP, UKCP or NCS registration or accreditation is expected. Requires minimum Level 4 Diploma in Counselling, with many employers requiring degree level. Significant supervised practice hours and personal therapy are prerequisites.
