Actuaries, economists and statisticians apply mathematical, statistical and economic theory to analyse data, model risks, forecast trends and inform decision-making. Actuaries assess financial risk for insurance and pensions. Economists analyse markets and policy. Statisticians design and interpret quantitative studies.

Qualifications and entry routes
Actuaries require IFoA (Institute and Faculty of Actuaries) qualification — typically 3-6 years of exams alongside work. Economists typically hold masters or doctoral degrees. Statisticians require degrees in statistics or mathematics, with RSS (Royal Statistical Society) chartership available.
Career outlook
